This weekend we celebrated Heath’s birthday.  It wasn’t the most exciting celebration since we were dealing with a teething, crabby baby and a momma with a VERY sore shoulder.  I got by with vicodin (life saver), ice, rest, and a TENS unit.  On Saturday we went and visited Great Grandma Emerson to give her her Christmas gift.  She is doing very well and loved holding Alexandria.  Then it was off to church and out to eat.  We took daddy to the Machine Shed for his birthday.  It’s crazy that both us being native Iowans have never been there.  It was good!  Sunday was a lazy day at home to watch football…just how the birthday boy wanted it!  However, he did not get his wish for the Super Bowl teams…he wanted the exact opposite teams to win.  I, on the otherhand, am very happy to see the Pack going to Texas Stadium!!!!  Shawndra and the kids stopped by to wish Heath a Happy Birthday.  They were in Des Moines shopping for prom dresses for Breezy.  Today, Alexandria and I both got taken care of.  I got an injection in my shoulder and will start PT tomorrow.  Daddy took Alexandria to the Dr. and found out that she has double ear infection on top of teething.  She is starting to feel better and we’ve gotten some smiles out of her today.  Let the fun begin!!!

This was not the best weekend to have a sick baby…we had so much going on and as if there is ever a good time to have a sick baby!  Friday after daycare, Alexandria came home and slept for a couple hours while mommy rested on the couch with body aches, chlls and a headache.  I found it weird that she wasn’t waking up to eat, but I just let her sleep since I didn’t feel well at all and daddy was at band practice.  Luckily Kade was home to help me out when she puked all over me!  Yes, it was my first time being puked on and having a sick baby…not fun, especially when I had NO energy to take care of her.  But, my mommy super powers kicked in and got her all taken care of.

On Saturday we had our last family Christmas at Mom and Mike’s.  Alexandria was feeling well enough…not puking anyways, so we decided to go.  We had a good time and were glad we could make it!  That evening Alexandria puked again after her 15 minute blab session.  She had us suckered into thinking she was all better.

Sunday Alexandria woke up with a matted eye and very rosey cheeks.  I decided to take her to the Dr. and found out that she has a virus and pink eye and needed to stay home from daycare on Monday with daddy.  Unfortunately we had to miss Holden’ 1st birthday party. emoticon  We did get to Skype to sing him "Happy Birthday" and see his awesome Mickey Mouse cake that Steph made for him.  From the looks of things, he looked a little overwhelmed with all the people singing and staring at him.  Dad and Brenda stopped by after the party and brought us some cake and it was yummy!

This past week was pretty low-key, which was nice.  I took Monday and Thursday off of work, my mom came and spent Tues. and Wed. with Alexandria, and daddy got to stay home with her on Friday.  On Monday, I did some post-holiday shopping while Heath and Kade stayed home and played with Alexandria.  On Thursday, Alexandria, Kade, and I met Steph, Jaxson, and Holden at Monkey Joe’s in West Des Moines to play.  It was Holden’s 1st birthday, which made the day extra special!  Jaxson and Kade had a fun time running around and jumping in all the inflatables.  After work on Friday, I came home to put all the Christmas decor away…what a chore!  I did get some good help from the boys though!  That evening we celebrated New Year’s Eve with chocolate martinis and games.  We even made Kade his very own virgin chocolate martini (chocolate milk with sprinkles)!  I think he thought it was pretty cool that he got to drink it out of a real martini glass!  I didn’t even make it to midnight….I think I was in bed by 11.  Kade woke Heath up at 11:50, so the two of them watched the ball drop and headed off to bed.  Saturday was a lazy day as Kade and I were both under the weather.  On Sunday, Brandon and Jess stopped by for a little visit which was nice.  It was so wonderful having extra time at home, but now it’s back to reality.  We had such a blessed 2010 with two little additions to the family…our nephew Holden and our precious little Alexandria!  We are also looking forward to an exciting event this year…Brandon and Jess’ wedding, which will be in early June!  We wish you all a very happy and healthy 2011!!!!

My Christmas fun started on Thursday evening with a little celebration with my ladies.  We met up in Ames for some mexican and margaritas!  It was fun and very delicious!  I’m so glad the snow storm held out for later in the evening so we could all get together.  On Christmas Eve it was just Heath, Alexandria and I since the boys were with their moms.  We got Alexandria all dressed up and went to Christmas Eve service at Hope.  It was wonderful as always with lots of beautiful music.  Alexandria behaved very well and got lots of attention from people around us adoring how cute she looked in her dress.  I got a surprise from her at the end of the service…I went to hand her off to her daddy when I realized she had pooped all over my pants and sweater.  I knew she needed her diaper changed but had no clue that it went up her back!  Luckily none got on her dress…it was all on me!  After I got her and I all cleaned up, we met our neighbors at Taki for some sushi.  We had chocolate martinis at home for dessert, which were very delicious!  Christmas morning Heath went to pick up the boys and brought them back home so we could open up all of our gifts.  I would have to say that we all got spoiled!  We spent the rest of the day up in Alden at Heath’s sister’s house.  We had a yummy meal and then opened up gifts.  Sunday was "get the house back in order" day.  We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your family and loved ones.  We wish you a very blessed New Year’s and Happy 2011!!!

Alexandria turned 4 months old on the 18th!!! Time sure is flyin’ right on by and she is growing so fast!  We had her 4 mo. check last week and she got an A+ from Dr. Gammon.  She now weighs 13 lbs. 5 oz. (44%) and is 25 1/4 inches (86%)…which makes her a string bean!  We have noticed that she is really starting to "chunk" up now that she is on formula.  She continues to change everyday and gets more personality, which just makes us laugh.  She continues to chatter, giggle, and be a very happy baby as long as she is fed.

Last weekend we celebrated Christmas in Eldora with my mom’s side of the family.  We had a good turn out of people and enjoyed a lot of good food…like always.  After lunch, we split the family in 1/2 and battled it out in a good ol’ game of Pictionary.  It was pretty fun and entertaining!  Before heading home, we stopped in Hubbard at Grandpa Dougan’s house to see a bunch of Heath’s family.  Alexandria got to meet Great Uncle Mike for the first time since he was home from Arizona.  The rest of the weekend was spent in Christmas prep…baking, last minute shopping, wrapping, and cleaning.

Last week Kade had his winter band concert. Unfortunately I was unable to make it because I had to come home to pick up Alexandria.  Heath went and was quite impressed with the band and the middle school orchestra.  Kade isn’t in orchestra but did get to play the bells, xilaphone, triangle, and snare in the band.  He looked very handsome all dressed up and did a good job!  I got to watch it on video when Heath got home.

Kade focused on his snare part.

Last weekend we spent the entire time at home.  I didn’t leave the house after I got home from work on Friday until Monday morning to go to work.  We got our first official snow fall for the winter, which turned into a blizzard.  The wind was horrible on Saturday evening causing Heath’s band practice to get cancelled.  He was able to make it out earlier in the day to do some hunting, but didn’t come home with anything.  I literally spent the whole time in my PJ’s which was wonderful!  The weather forced me to get caught up on many things around the house.  I still have not had time to wrap any gifts or make Christmas goodies.  I plan on doing that this weekend…hopefully.  Mom and Mike were able to stop by on Sunday on their way home from Des Moines.  They had spent the weekend down there shopping, so luckily they weren’t traveling during the blizzard.  It wasn’t a completely uneventful weekend…a little someone "found" their voice!  Yes, we have quite the "talker" in the house.  It is a little scary I must say!  I think Alexandria made noise all day Saturday and Sunday and at one point these words came out of Kade’s mouth…"she is annoying me!"  Ha!!!!  It’s only just begun!!

Annoying you huh, does this annoy you? emoticon

We celebrated our first Christmas of the season already.  This year we were able to have it out at the farm, which was nice.  I like the idea that the kids can come back there and play just like we did with all of our cousins every holiday.  It was a very cold and windy day, but we all braved being placed for a family picture outside with a horse, 5 dogs, 16 people, a sleigh, and hay bales.  What a combo!  I can’t wait to see how they turn out!  After the pics were done, we all ran back into the house to warm up and open presents.  It was fun watching the kids open their gifts although Jaxson opened most of everyones…such a good helper!  We had to leave early to get Devon to work at Hickory Park.  Kade also returned home, so Heath and I took advantage of that and went off and did our own shopping.  He took Alexandria with him because I was planning on doing some major power shopping.  I ended up shopping until 10 that night, but got almost everything done!  Now to find the time to wrap everything!

Ya, you know it’s true.

Ok I’m ready to go to The Winter Family Christmas.

Warming Papa Winter up. He forgot his hat.

Mom your lights are on.

Holden didn’t get enough lunch so he topped off with some wrapping paper.

Devon text Santa for me, tell him I want some milk.

Alexandria loved watching Papa open gifts.
